From manutd.com:

Manchester United is to reward its most loyal fans by making 7,000 new season tickets available for the 2006/07 season.

So far this season, an average of 8,000 fans have been unable to get a ticket for each Premiership match at Old Trafford. Today’s announcement means that fans in the club’s membership scheme, One United, will soon be able to apply for the most sought after season ticket in English football.

The new tickets, which will take the total number of season ticket holders to 50,000 have been made possible by the £43 million, 7,500 seat expansion of Old Trafford which is on schedule to fully open in August 2006.

Full details will be announced to members in the New Year, after the membership scheme has closed for the season. The move represents the biggest increase in the number of season tickets since the opening of the North Stand in 1996.

Venue Director Karl Evans said:

“We’ve rewarded our fans’ loyalty each time we’ve expanded the stadium. Every Premier League game, thousands of members are disappointed because they can’t get a ticket.

”These new season tickets will mean that 7,000 fans who regularly apply to attend games will have their own seat. Those members who remain in One United will still be able to apply for match tickets, as the total number available will be roughly the same, because we will have more seats in the ground.”

In addition to releasing the 7,000 new season tickets, Manchester United will upgrade League Match Ticket Books (LMTBs) to season tickets from the start of 2006/07.
