Ferguson buys Rock’s son for GBP200,000

From The Scotsman:
Ferguson, who had bought a half-share in Rock Of Gibraltar as a juvenile, consulted lawyers after reportedly being told by Magnier he wasn’t entitled to 50 per cent of the huge wealth likely to be generated by the horse as a stallion, a figure put in some quarters as high as £110 million.
To add a little more spice, the row was further complicated by the fact Magnier and business associate JP McManus were major shareholders at Old Trafford through their Cubic Expression Company.
After a protracted period of claim and counter claim, court proceedings looked inevitable but in March of last year, a deal was struck by the warring factions following the intervention of Celtic shareholder Dermot Desmond which is believed to have netted Ferguson a payment of almost £3 million. “It’s over now,” said the 64-year old Scot at the time, and the expensive purchase of what he hopes will be Rock Of Gibraltar Mark II would appear to confirm that.
